Jay Asher & Angie Frazier

Who doesn't love winning free stuff, especially books. That is why I am bringing you two contests that I've entered and really hope I win.

Now I know my odds of winning go down with the more people who enter, but if I don't share these then I can't complain if karma bites me in the butt and I don't win.

Jay Asher is doing a giveaway on his blog that ends tonight at 11:59PM. His giveaway includes an autographed copy of his book 13 Reasons Why plus Tangled by Carolyn Mackler and The Evermore by Amy Huntley.

Angie Frazier is also doing a giveaway on her blog for an ARC of her book Everlasting that hits shelves June 1st. Entries are accepted until Midnight tomorrow, January 8th.

Happy contest entering!

Project 365 - Day 2, 3, & 4

I know, I know. I said I was going to blog every day but I haven't finished my book yet and my life is so un-interesting at the moment that I'm struggling to find things I want to take pictures of. To keep myself on track with Project 365, I'm posting days 2-4 all at once, and don't be surprised if more days are like this.

Each day my furbaby gets a pouch of wet cat food around 11AM. From the time I wake up until then, he stares at me. Doesn't matter where he's sitting (usually right next to me) he stares until he gets his pouch of food. As soon as he sees me getting up he runs to the kitchen hoping I'm going that way and if I am, he goes and sits by the counter and waits, if I don't he runs in front of me like he's trying to be Lassie or something.

When 11 finally rolls around and I make my way to his bowl, this is what he does. He stretches up the cabinet in anticipation of the yumminess about to come his way.

Day 3 belongs to The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. I don't know why it's taken me so long to get through this book. I think part of it has to do with I read all the books before this back-to-back and needed to get more books in for my 2009 book goal..especially since I hit a major reading funk. Luckily, I got out of that funk the last 2 weeks in December and am back on track for 2010.

Day 4 (today) is yet another of my furbaby. Chances are you'll be seeing a lot of him on here because not only is he cute, but he does a LOT of cute things. This one is of him sleeping next to me right now all curled up on my blanket. Most likely waiting for me to get up and go to bed. I woke him up when I turned on the camera, but he was originally laying with his chin facing up and it kind of reminded me of Sid the Sloth from Ice Age when he's standing on his head.

Hopefully tomorrow's picture will include snow since it's supposed to snow tomorrow afternoon. Here's to hoping my husband will get part of tomorrow off work since the schools in his work area are closing and he already knows they'll be closed Friday. Fingers crossed!

Project 365 - Day 1

I was originally going to start Project 365 a few days ago but I decided to hold off for a few days. Since I didn't do anything except for go grocery shopping, watch movies, and play Super Mario Bros. today, I'm going to use a picture from yesterday.

Yesterday was my mother-in-law's birthday and I made a cake for her with some of my new cake decorating skills. A bonus to cake decorating is that I've spent so much time making cakes in the past two months, that I'm all too happy not to eat a bite. Even though I've never been a huge cake eater, this will definitely make avoiding this sweet treat a whole lot easier on my quest for weight loss.

So without further ado, here is the cake I made for her birthday. I used the Hershey's Chocolate Cake recipe and made my own strawberry flavored butter cream for the icing. I messed up a bit on the writing but it was only my 2nd attempt at it.
